Infrared light represents a broad spectrum of light with wavelengths from 700 nm to 1 million nm (1,000 microns). At its shortest wavelengths (referred to as near-infrared), it merges with the red spectrum of visible light. At the longest end (referred to as far-infrared), it blends into the range of microwaves. Near-infrared light has gained increased attention for its ability to activate anti-inflammatory processes and is now widely used in veterinary medicine to treat sprains, bone fractures, and to speed the healing of wounds. Over the last ten years, there has been an assemblage of animal studies focusing on the use of transcranial near-infrared light therapy (NILT) to treat brain injury from stroke or trauma.

Near infrared light (600-980 nm) penetrates tissue and a fraction of the photonic energy reaches the mitochondria. The light of particular wavelengths is absorbed by cytochrome C oxidase and activates increased ATP production, increased production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), reactive nitrogen species (RNS), and possibly increases nitric oxide (Chung et al., 2012; Henderson and Morries, 2015). Downstream events include increased early response genes – c-fos, c-jun and activation of nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB), which in turn induces increased transcription of gene products leading to synaptogenesis, neurogenesis, and increased production of inflammatory mediators and growth factors.

Principle Of NIR Led Light Therapy Cap

 

Cytochrome C oxidase (CCO, also known as complex IV) is a specific structure in mitochondria that ACTS as a photon receptor and thus plays the PBM effect.PBM prevents respiratory inhibition (and correspondingly reduces energy storage) in stress cells by isolating nitric oxide (NO) and reversing the shift of oxygen in cytochrome C oxidase.This triggers transcription factors that alter gene expression levels.The binding of nitric oxide (NO) to copper (or heme) centers in the mitochondrial cytochrome C oxidase (CCO) inhibits cell respiration.But cytochrome C oxidase, which absorbs red or near-infrared (NIR) light, dissociates nitric oxide, restoring oxygen, increasing cellular respiration, and forming adenosine triphosphate (ATP).This triggers a cascade of intracellular reactions involving nitric oxide, reactive oxygen species (ROS), and cyclic adenosine phosphate (cAMP) that produce beneficial effects of PBM.

How to use

Take out the helmet,power adapter, control box, fixation sponges, connection cables from the handbag. Stick the sponges inside helmet.

2. Put the helmet on the head and sit on a comfortable place. Pic.②
3. Connect the power. Pic.③
4. Adjust the suitable power, frequency and time, then press Run/Stop button to start treatment. Pic.④
(Note: When the power is adjusted to 100%, the near-infrared light is a continuous wave with full power,
so there is no frequency and no flicker)
